We take a holistic approach toward building Uganda\'s communities back to health.
Building African Families
We believe a strong family is critical in developing a community toward maturity. We support parents in the care for their children and those they may foster.
With education children are able to accomplish many things. A solid education gives them the opportunity to change their future for the better.
We are partners who share the story, burdens, and hopes of those in need, but give them the space to make their own decisions so that they might strengthen their community in a holistic way.
We respond to the call of Christ's heart by aiding orphans and vulnerable children with compassion and humility, by acting as the body of Christ for those in need.
We believe that through education, each child is given a new perspective on how they see themselves and their community. Too often, these children are seen as burdens if they are orphaned, and they begin to think that their situation defines them. Through a holistic approach, AOET seeks to turn a life of hopelessness into a life of HOPE. Our social workers provide sponsored children and families with psycho-social support, empowerment training, medical support, home-visits, and career guidance. Rather than focusing on only providing a child with an education, AOET strives to address all the needs of a child – physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual.
Our sponsored students are attending over 200 schools across Uganda, spanning from Lira up north to the capital city of Kampala. The vast majority of our students are attending schools in the Jinja and Buikwe districts. AOET~Uganda founded two of their own schools – Rehaboth Integrated Primary School (RIPS – Nursery through Primary 7) and Rehaboth Integrated High School (RIHS – Senior 1 through Senior 6). The word “integrated” means that some of the students at the school are sponsored through AOET and some are not. The Rehaboth schools seek to provide a Christ-centered quality education for the students in their care.
AOET Children\'s Village
AOET believes children best grow to their full potential in a family-supported environment. When a child is orphaned, AOET works to find family members to care for the child. In the event that there is no one to care for the orphaned child, AOET brings them to our Children’s Village so they may get the experience of growing up in a loving family. This is a unique community made up of 15 homes and 15 foster families. Over 100 children live in this village – some of whom have biological parents serving as foster parents, and others who are orphaned. Our staff regularly works with the foster families and provides training for how to best care for these orphaned and vulnerable children. All of the children living in this village receive sponsorship through AOET.
AOET Medical Clinic
The AOET Medical Clinic is located in the village of Bugembe, and provides health education, basic health care, and immunizations for children in our program. The Women’s Clinic is a safe place for mothers in the community to deliver newborns. The AOET Medical Clinic staff also reaches out to nearby villages to provide free HIV testing and counseling.
Through their schools, medical clinic, child welfare and administrative departments, AOET~Uganda employs 89 people on their staff. That’s 89 families benefiting from steady work through jobs that serve their communities. By giving to AOET, you are investing in local communities and supporting the staff of teachers, leaders, social workers and doctors.
